Programming the Light Sensor

This week our helpful Robogals came back to Westgarth to teach the First Lego League all about programming a robot's light sensor.

First the students had to program their robots to move in a square, adjusting the duration and rotation settings to create 90 degree angles. One handy hint we learnt about was using the 'loop' setting to repeat a movement, helping our robots to complete a full square.

Next, the students were given the challenge of programming their robot to follow the outline of a square maze using the sensors to move in the correct direction along a line of black tape. This meant understanding how the light sensor detects and emits light to follow a pathway.

The First Lego League really enjoyed the challenge brought by the Robogals and we look forward to seeing them again in Term 2.

Our last session for Term 1 will be a Parent and Teacher Session on Tuesday the 22nd of March from 3:45pm-5:00pm.

See you all next time!!
